Corey Goodenow has been named the new finance director for the city of Ames.
Goodenow is currently the assistant city administrator and finance director in Pella. He’ll replace longtime director Duane Pitcher, who retired after 22 years in the role, when Goodenow starts on Nov. 14.
“We are excited to welcome Corey to the City of Ames. His background in Iowa local government finance will provide an excellent foundation for serving our citizens. We welcome the leadership, management, and expertise he brings to this position,” City Manager Steve Schainker said in a news release. “Ames is a growing community with many projects and programs requiring detailed financial analysis. We believe Corey will be a key leader as the City moves forward on these plans.”
Prior to working in Pella, Goodenow worked as the city manager in Chariton and interim city administrator in Centerville. He was an executive officer for the Iowa Office of Energy Independence and an investment accountant for Principal Financial Group. He has a master’s in public administration from Drake University and a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University.
