Shift4 Launches Payments for eCommerce Businesses

Payment processing and commerce technology provider Shift4 has launched a new online payments platform for eCommerce businesses of all sizes.

The platform features developer tools that enable businesses to create a customizable checkout form, supports a wide range of payment scenarios and includes smart anti-fraud tools, the company said Thursday (Nov. 10) in a press release.

“Our new online payments platform delivers a truly unmatched solution that can support even the largest and most complex eCommerce merchants around the world,” Shift4 Chief Technology Officer Mike Russo said in the release.

With the new platform, it takes only a few lines of code for businesses to create a checkout form that can be embedded on their website. The form supports 24 languages, 160 currencies and all major card types, according to the release.

The payment scenarios supported by the platform include one-time payments, recurring payments and subscriptions as well as hybrid billing models and variable billing, the release stated.

To help developers implement this solution, the platform includes a customizable application programming interface (API), software development kits (SDKs), support resources and a sandbox mode in which developers can test the API and the process.

“Built by developers for developers, our platform enables seamless web and mobile payments with a simple and flexible integration, powerful management tools and the highest level of security,” Russo said in the release.

The announcement comes about two months after Shift4 unveiled a point-of-sale (POS) system for restaurants that includes integrated online ordering and reservations, contactless and QR code ordering and payment, built-in marketing tools and loyalty program, mobile devices for tableside ordering and payment, and eGift cards.

“SkyTab’s Android-based software offers robust functionality to modernize and empower foodservice businesses,” Shift4 said Sept. 7.

We’re always on the lookout for opportunities to partner with innovators and disruptors.
